Metallica Announce Marching Band Completion Returning For Second Year

Metallica have announced that their Marching Band Competition is returning for a second year.

Last year's response to Metallica's first-ever marching band competition "completely blew us away," with over 500 colleges and high schools in the U.S. submitting their truly unique interpretations of Metallica songs, said the band.

Year two offers three times as many chances to win and has officially kicked off, with sign-ups open now at metallicamarchingband.com through September 23.

Competition winners will receive instruments and gear for their schools' music programs, sponsored by Sweetwater, and generous donations from TAMA, KHS America, and others to be announced.

Each of the five original categories - College (Division 1), College (Divisions 2 & 3), High School (Large), High School (Medium), and High School (Small) - has now been expanded to include awards for first, second, and third place, with winners in each category ultimately selected by the members of Metallica. The Fan Favorite award will return with voting opening on December 1.

Participating school bands can choose free sheet music from a set of 13 songs.

Bands will have access to a library of marching band charts for Metallica songs, provided by Hal Leonard via sheetmusicdirect.com.

Blur To Release 'Live At Wembley Stadium' Album, Concert Film

Blur are set to release a new live album, Live At Wembley Stadium, which captures the band's celebrated comeback shows at the iconic Wembley Stadium last year.

Live At Wembley Stadium is set for release on July 26th via Parlophone. It will feature the British pop icon's full performance at the stadium last July 8 and 9.

A new feature-length concert film, also titled Blur: Live at Wembley Stadium, is also set for a U.K. and Ireland cinema release on September 6th.

The film, directed by Toby L, will tell the story of the band getting back together for the 2023 album The Ballad of Darren.

"To The End is an intimate glimpse into relationships, motivation and mortality, the sights and sounds of longterm friendship unearthing a fresh new conquest to overcome together," Toby said.

"On the subject of capturing a band that has been so well documented, we sat down at the start of the project and agreed that the film had to tell a new story, be shot entirely on location, and crucially, be honest," he added. "In To The End, that's what I hope people can see, and most importantly, feel."
