Siouxsie Sioux Duets With Iggy Pop On New Version Of 'The Passenger'
Siouxsie Sioux has teamed up with Iggy Pop for a new rendition of "The Passenger."
The song was originally co-written and recorded by Iggy Pop for his iconic album Lust For Life, which dropped in 1977.
"The Passenger" was then re-recorded a decade later, by Siouxsie And The Banshees, for their 1987 covers album Through The Looking Glass.
Now, nearly 35 years later, Sioux and Pop teamed up to remake the song for the third time for a new advert to promote Magnum ice cream.
In the ad, an actress is seen eating an ice cream bar while riding on a train and, in the background, the new rendition of the song can be heard.
In a press statement, Pop praised Siouxsie, saying she "can sing like a bird," and adding, "I've always thought she was a great lady. Her version of the song was already special, but what happened here, singing together, is really unique. Like 'Volare,' the orchestral treatment and marriage of voices flies free, in a spirit of joy."
Siouxsie added, "I love this song, and I've always loved Iggy's voice. I adore how instinctive and spontaneous it all feels and to hear my voice with Iggy's is such a dream."

The "Creep" music video was filmed at the Venue, Oxford. For the video, Radiohead performed a free short concert, playing "Creep" several times. They donated proceeds from audience members to the Oxford magazine Curfew, which had covered their early work.

The Beatles' 'Let It Be' Documentary Headed To Disney+
Disney+ announced that "Let It Be," director Michael Lindsay-Hogg's original 1970 film about The Beatles, will launch exclusively on the streaming service on May 8, 2024.
This will be the first time the film is available in over 50 years.
Let It Be was directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg and was restored by Peter Jackson, who recently combed through 60 hours of footage to create the now-classic docuseries "Get Back."
Let It Be contains footage not featured in the "Get Back" docuseries, bringing viewers into the studio and onto Apple Corps' London rooftop in January 1969 as The Beatles, joined by Billy Preston, write and record their Grammy Award-winning album Let It Be, with its Academy Award-winning title song, and perform live for the final time as a group.
"I'm absolutely thrilled that Michael's movie, 'Let It Be,' has been restored and is finally being re-released after being unavailable for decades," says Jackson. "I was so lucky to have access to Michael's outtakes for 'Get Back,' and I've always thought that 'Let It Be' is needed to complete the 'Get Back' story."
"Over three parts, we showed Michael and The Beatles filming a groundbreaking new documentary, and 'Let It Be' is that documentary - the movie they released in 1970. I now think of it all as one epic story, finally completed after five decades," he added. "The two projects support and enhance each other: 'Let It Be' is the climax of 'Get Back,' while 'Get Back' provides a vital missing context for 'Let It Be.' Michael Lindsay-Hogg was unfailingly helpful and gracious while I made 'Get Back,' and it's only right that his original movie has the last word...looking and sounding far better than it did in 1970."

Joni Mitchell's catalog has been restored to the Spotify streaming services, more than two years after the singer pulled her music from the platform.
Mitchell had pulled her catalog from the streaming service in early 2022, in solidarity with Neil Young, citing concerns about the misinformation that was being spread about COVID-19 and the vaccine on Spotify's "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast.
"I've decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue," Mitchell posted on her official website at the time.
Young recently returned his music to Spotify after the end of Rogan's exclusivity deal with the streaming service, saying, "My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I had opposed at Spotify."
Following suit, Mitchell decided to return her catalog to Spotify. There is no official statement as yet from Mitchell about the decision.
Noticing the return of the catalog to the streaming service, fans started commenting on social media. "JONI MITCHELL MUSIC BACK ON SPOTIFY THIS IS NOT A DRILL," tweeted one user.

British pop icons Oasis are set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Supersonic" by re-releasing it as a physical single on April 12.
"Supersonic" was released by Oasis as their debut single on April 11, 1994. It appeared on their debut studio album, Definitely Maybe (1994).
The single reached No. 31 on the U.K. Singles Chart, No. 2 on the U.K. Independent Singles Chart, and No. 11 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
"Supersonic" was written by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher and recorded in one single day at the Pink Museum Studio (now the Motor Museum) in Liverpool, England, in mid-December 1993. It was produced by Oasis and producer Mark Coyle.
Thirty years after it was first released, frontman Liam Gallagher has confirmed that the band will be re-sharing it as a physical release.
"To celebrate 30 years of Supersonic, the original CD single and a limited edition pearl-coloured and numbered 7" release on April 12th, 2024," he wrote in a post on Instagram.
