Members of Tool, Mastodon, Primus, Coheed and Cambria and Mutoid Man have teamed up for a socially distanced rendition of Rush‘s “Anthem.”
The video was recorded for Gwarsenio Hall‘s heavy metal-themed YouTube talk show “Two Minutes to Late Night,” which recently launched a Patreon-funded “bedroom covers” series to give musicians an outlet while stuck at home.
Primus bassist Les Claypool, Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher, Tool drummer Danny Carey, Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez and Mutoid Man guitarist Stephen Brodsky join Hall for the cover.
The YouTube description of the video reveals that all of the artists who participated will be donating their fees for the performance to The Cancer Research Institute.
An outspoken Rush fan, Claypool was set to cover the prog-rock band’s 1977 record, A Farewell to Kings, on tour with Primus, but the trek has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
