BOOTS ON THE GROUND PROJECT 2018

KQRQ has partnered with VFW #1273 for the annual Boots On The Ground Project. Our area has a high population of vets in need, and many organizations that are there to serve them as they have served us. The goal of the Boots On The Ground Project is to reach out to our vets and connect them with the services that VFW #1273 and other organizations provide.

Our station and VFW #1273 will be collecting new and gently worn boots, coveralls, winter coats, gloves, hats and socks, and other partners will be donating toiletries. Orchard Meadows Dental will provide dental kits. Several veteran’s service organizations will provide literature and their contact information packets. Veterans and their caregivers are invited to come to the VFW on Saturday November 3th from 1:00-5:00 PM and choose items that they may need. Each vet will be greeted by their fellow vets, offered coffee and treats and helped with their shopping. Most importantly, each vet will be thanked for their service, and connect with their fellow vets and the groups or organizations that will serve them best.

Drop off items at the KOTA studio, or at VFW #1273 420 Main Street Questions to [email protected]. Cash donations are also welcome.

Items should be new or gently used, clean, and suitable for fall and winter wear. Items (in order of need) include:

1) Boots – snow, combat and work boots

2) Coveralls/snow pants

3) Winter coats/hats/gloves

4) Socks and underwear (NEW)

5) Jeans/Sweat pants/sweat shirts

The hardest items for them to get are XL – 2XK – 3XL and larger sizes. Men far outnumber women, but there are many women in the system.
